Meet Christine
Your fun, friendly &
fabulous Celebrant!
Your Celebrant for a Perfect Day
Hello! I’m Christine Skicko. Originally from the UK, I made the big move to Australia in 1982 and have called the Latrobe Valley home ever since. Over the years, I’ve lived in Moe, Trafalgar, and now Newborough. I’m a proud mum to two wonderful sons who have grown into fine young men as well as a gorgeous grandson who is the apple of my eye.
Becoming a Celebrant was a lifelong dream for me. I’ve always loved celebrations, and helping couples create their perfect day is a true joy. Having married my amazing husband, Chris, in December 2021, I understand the excitement and effort that goes into planning a wedding. It’s an experience I’m thrilled to share with others as I guide you toward your own magical day.
Organised, Calm, and Ready to Help
With a background in administration and customer service, I bring organisation, efficiency, and a calm approach to everything I do. I’m used to working under time constraints and have a knack for staying composed and focused - qualities I’ll bring to your special day to ensure it runs smoothly.
A Passion for the Stage and Creativity
You might know me from local theatre! I’ve performed in musicals and plays across Gippsland, taking on roles like Anna in The King and I, Dolly Levi in Hello Dolly, and Mrs. Brill in Mary Poppins. I’ve also tackled dramatic roles like Titiania in a Midsummer Nights Dream, as well as Ruth in Calendar Girls, where I joined friends in raising nearly $70,000 for a local hospital. I also loved playing the title role in The Vicar of Dibley, which earned me a Victorian Drama League Award for Best Actor in a Comedy.
When I’m not on stage, I’m often directing productions, especially those involving young performers, or designing costumes for period plays and musicals or joining my husband in his theatre company called Nautilus Theatre which is a perfect way to combine my creative side and love of history.
Finding New Passions
During the Covid lockdowns, I picked up a new hobby: painting. Watercolour flowers have become my creative escape, bringing me peace and relaxation.
A Familiar Voice and Face
Beyond theatre, I’ve appeared in TV commercials, hosted on local radio, and emceed events like Carols by Candlelight and local dance concerts. Meeting people from all walks of life is something I truly enjoy, and I bring that warmth and connection to my work as a Celebrant.
I can’t wait to meet you, hear your story, and help you create a wedding day filled with joy, love, and unforgettable memories. Let’s make your celebration everything you’ve dreamed of!
Sharing something so special with you - Chris & I on our own magical
wedding day! With love xo
Let us
walk
gently.
I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which I am privileged to live, work, and celebrate love - the Gunaikurnai people, the First Peoples of Gippsland. I pay my deepest respects to their Elders - past, present, and emerging - who have cared for this land for tens of thousands of years with wisdom, strength, and profound connection.
To the Gunaikurnai, I honour your stories, culture, and traditions, woven into the very fabric of this beautiful country. I am deeply grateful to stand on this land, to be embraced by its beauty, and to witness love and connection in a place so rich in history and spirit.
As a Celebrant, I carry this acknowledgment in my heart and practice, recognising that every ceremony I officiate happens on sacred ground. I welcome opportunities to incorporate meaningful elements into ceremonies that honour the history, culture, and enduring legacy of our First Nations peoples, fostering respect and unity in every celebration of love.
Let us walk gently together on this land, always mindful of its stories and custodians.
